TUCSON, Ariz. Raytheon (an RTX business) won a contract worth $1.1 billion contract from the U.S. Navy to produce AIM-9X Block II missiles.

CAMBRIDGE, U.K. Blighter launched what it says is its longest-range smart border-surveillance radar system,  which can detect a person 15 km (9.3 miles) away using only 4 W of power, or the same amount of juice needed to power a cellphone or an LED bulb.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. Ametek Abaco Systems introduced the GRA117SVIO, an Open VPX 3U video graphics and GPGPU card aligned with the Sensor Open Systems Architecture, or SOSA, Technical Standard.

ANDOVER, Mass. Raytheon (an RTX business) announced that it won a $536 million contract from the U.S. Navy for its SPY-6 family of radars; the most recent contract is a follow-on to the previously awarded Integration and Production Support contract and includes upgrading Flight IIA destroyers with the SPY-6(V)4 variant, the company said.

OKLAHOMA CITY. Airspace-management software provider Vigilant Aerospace Systems and its FlightHorizon multisensor detect-and-avoid software has been chosen by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) as a new vendor on the USAF's wide-ranging $46 billion Enterprise-Wide Agile Acquisition Contract (EWAAC). 

SAN FRANCISCO. The Open Group Sensor Open Systems Architecture or SOSA Consortium today announced the release of the Technical Standard for SOSA Reference Architecture, Edition 2.0, Snapshot 3. New features and functionality described in Snapshot 3 are intended for inclusion in Edition 2.0 of the standard when officially released.

MUNICH. Infineon Technologies announced the first of a new family of radiation-hardened (rad-hard) gallium nitride (GaN) transistors, aimed at use in harsh space environments.

CHICAGO. Motorola Solutions announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Silvus Technologies, Inc. -- a Los Angeles-based provider of mission-critical mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) -- for $4.4 billion in up-front consideration.  

POWAY, Calif. General Atomics won a $99.3 million contract with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) for work on what it calls a “hybrid-electric propulsion ducted fan next-generation intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance/strike unmanned aerial system,” which it calls GHOST. 

HELSINKI, Finland. Finland's Patria Group announced that it will lead an industry consortium for the new joint Artificial Intelligence Warfare Adaptive Swarm Platform (AI-WASP) program, which will develop a new generation, scalable, and cognitive multifunctional software-defined converged aperture and transceiver (AIMA).

WOODBRIDGE, Va. Cybersecurity and IT provider Sev1Tech reports that it won a $262 million contract with the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office, Command, Control and Communications Network.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. The U.S. Space Force Strategic Missile Warning Ground and Integration Acquisition Delta at Space Systems Command, in partnership with Space Operation Command’s Mission Delta 4 (MD4), reports that it achieved Operational Acceptance for the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) Survivable Endurable Evolution (S2E2) program on April 25, 2025. This milestone represents a major step forward in ensuring U.S. missile-warning systems remain operational and resilient even in contested and degraded environments.

SOF WEEK 2025--Tampa, Fla. Software-defined networking company Somewear Labs announced that it entered into a fielding initiative with the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) -- sponsored by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) -- under which the company will move the capability prototyped with DIU into production and advance Somewear’s automated, multinetwork communications fabric in pursuit of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) network-modernization priorities.

SANTA ROSA, Calif. Keysight Technologies reports that it won a contract with the NATO Naval Forces Sensor and Weapons Accuracy Check Sites (FORACS) to modernize its testing capabilities for critical radar and electronic support measures (ESM) systems.

OMAHA, Neb. Digital-engineering company Apogee Engineering announced that it won a $39.9 million task order to support the 95th Wing's portfolio of command-and-control (C2) systems at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.

PHOENIX. Honeywell announced that its F-35 Power and Thermal Management System (PTMS) marked one million flight hours since the supersonic F-35 strike fighter aircraft first took flight in late 2006.
